ITA: Oakland si affaccia sulla baia di San Francisco, è una cittadina ancora poco turistica, con un grandissimo potenziale. Abbiamo deciso di trascorrerci un paio di giorni e ne siamo rimasti davvero colpiti. E’ una città  dall’anima autentica, genuina, molto meno “perfetta”di San Francisco, racchiude in sè lo spirito americano più reale.
Negli ultimi anni ha  avuto una vera rinascita ed oggi offre molte possibilità per poter visitare interessantissimi luoghi culturali e non.

ENG: Oakland, which is facing the bay of San Francisco, is a quiet and not yet touristical city, with a great potential ahead. We decided to spend a couple of days there and we have been really conquered by this place. With her authentic and genuine soul Oakland is way less “perfect” than San Francisco, reflecting the real american spirit and way of life.
In the last few years the city is completely reborn and today offers a lot of possibilities of visiting interesting museums but not only.

 

 

ITA: La prima cosa che abbia mo fatto è stato il Tour guidato dell’Oracle Arena, il parquet più famoso del mondo, casa dei Golden State Warriors (che hanno vinto le finals proprio il giorno del nostro arrivo!). E’ assolutamente imperdibile per tutti gli appassionati dello sport, Amanda, la nostra guida, ci ha mostrato tutti i segreti e i dietro le quinte della struttura, raccontandoci tantissime curiosità: poter andare sul campo è stata un’emozione unica!  Nella stessa mattinata siamo andati al Coliseum, proprio li accanto, per assistere ad una vera partita di Baseball della squadra locale, Oakland Athletics. Mi sono sentita come in un film, seduta in prima fila a bere e mangiare patatine, discutendo del più e del meno con tutte le persone accanto a noi.

ENG: First thing we did was the guided tour of the Oracle Arena, the most famous parquet of the world, home of the Golden State Warriors (by the way they won the finals the day when we arrived!). You wouldn’t want to miss this if you love that sport. Amanda, our guide, showed us all the secrets and the behind the scenes of the building, telling so many funny stories about it: stepping on the basket court was unforgettable!
During the same morning we went to the Coliseum, which is right in front of the arena, to watch a real Baseball gameof the local team, Oakland Athletics. I’ve felt like in a movie, sitting in front row, drinking and eating fries, making small talks with people sitting next to us.

ITA: Un’area molto caratteristica della città è quella di Jack London Square, dove ogni Domenica si tiene il farmer’s market, mercato dei commercianti locali, da cui acquistare prodotti, frutta, verdura e invitanti dolci. La giornata era splendida, i colori vividi e il sole alto, ne abbiamo approfittato per rilassarci e goderci la vita del posto.  La piazza prende il nome dall’intrepido avventuriero e autore di Il richiamo della foresta e Il lupo di mare, romanzo a quanto pare ispirato alle storie che raccontavano gli scontrosi avventori del leggendario Heinhold’s First and Last Chance Saloon, aperto ancora oggi.

ENG: Another typical area of the city is Jack London Square, where every Sunday the Farmer’ market is held, that’s the market of local traders, where you can buy goods, fruit, vegetables and delicious pastries. The day was gorgeous, colors bright and the sun was shining, so we took the chance to relax a bit and enjoy the local lifestyle. The square was named after the fearless adventurer and writer of The Call Of The Wild and The Sea Wolf, apparently inspired by the stories told by the surly customers of the legendary Heinhold’s First and Last Chance Saloon, still open.

 

ITA: Oakland downtown è un’altra zona da non perdere: qui si possono trovare i graffiti di moltissimi artisti, ed è un piacere passeggiare lungo gli stradoni scoprendoli uno dopo l’altro, posizionati nei posti più svariati, dalle facciate dei locali ai parcheggi, in un colorato caleidoscopio… anche in questo senso è una città che ci ha stupiti.

ENG: Another district you can’t miss is downtown Oakland: here you can find a lot of street artists works, and it’s so pleasant to walk across the streets discovering these masterpieces one next to the other, in the most extravagant places, from the walls of the restaurants to the parkings, in a colorful kaleidoscope…even in this respect the city really impressed us.

 

 

ITA: Per quanto riguarda la parte culturale ad Oakland c’è il  Museo di Arte Moderna, una bellissima struttura che ospita esposizioni originali, innovative ed interessanti: noi ne abbiamo vista una sulla cultura hip-hop… è stato un ottimo modo per saperne di più, entrando profondamente in contatto con essa attraverso numerose opere interattive.

ENG: As for the cultural part in Oakland you can find the Museum of Modern Arts, a beautiful building that hosts a lot of original, groundbreaking and interesting exhibitions: we saw one of these, dedicated to the hip-hop culture…it was a great way to found out more about the topic, getting in touch with it through various interactive works.
