ITA: Terzo giorno in India. Lo shock culturale ha ormai lasciato il posto all’entusiasmo: qui tutto è nuovo, ogni cosa è diversa.
La giornata di oggi si preannuncia intensa, dato che trascorreremo almeno 6 ore in pullman per raggiungere Agra e quindi Jaipur, le perle del Rajasthan.
Si parte di buon ora e verso metà mattinata giungiamo finalmente a destinazione: Agra, la sede di una delle 7 Meraviglie del Mondo… il Taj Mahal! Fu fatto costruire dall’imperatore Moghul Shahjehan nel 1631 in memoria della moglie Mumtaz Mahal, morta durante il parto del 14mo figlio dopo 17 anni di matrimonio.
E’ il monumento più famoso dell’India, la cui costruzione fu completata solamente nel 1653 e richiese l’impiego di 20.000 operai.
Vederlo dal vivo è incredibile, è decisamente imponente e il marmo bianchissimo adornato da pietre preziose risplende accecante sotto i raggi del sole.
Vi raccomando di partire il prima possibile perchè la folla è davvero numerosa, le persone vengono da ogni parte dell’India ma soprattutto del mondo.

ENG: Third day in India.  Cultural shock has already make way for enthusiasm: everything is new and different here.
Today’s will probably be very intense, since we will spend 6 hours at least on the bus to get to Agra and then Jaipur, the pearls of Rajasthan.
We left first thing in the morning and by mid-morning we reached our destination: Agra,  the place of one of the seven wonders of the world… the Taj Mahal! The emperor Moghul Shahjehan had it built in 1631 in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, she died after giving birth to her 14th child after 17 years of wedding.
It’s the most famous monument of India, the construction was only completed in 1653 with the work of 20.000 workers.
Seeing it live it’s almost incredible, Taj Mahal is quite impressive and the white marble embellished with precious stones it’s gleaming in the sunshine.
I recommend you to leave early because there’s always so much people, coming from every part of India, but mostly from every part of the world.

 

 

ITA: Ai lati del basamento del Taj Mahal a ovest e a est sorgono due edifici identici in arenaria rossa con cupole in marmo bianco. L’edificio a ovest è una moschea, luogo di culto molto importante per i musulmani di Agra. L’edificio speculare, identico, è stato costruito solo per rispettare la simmetria del complesso, ma non può essere usato come moschea perchè orientato nella direzione sbagliata.

ENG: On the sides of the basement of Taj Mahal, west and east, there are two identical buildings in red sandstone with white marble domes. The west building is a Mosque, very important place of worship for Agra’s muslims. The specular building, which is identical, has been only built to respect the symmetry, but it can’t be used as a Mosque, because is directed in the wrong direction.

 

 

ITA: Dopo una breve pausa pranzo all’ ITC Mughal 5* (ribadisco che scegliere con cura i posti dove mangiare è davvero importante) abbiamo proseguito in pullman alla volta di Jaipur. I paesaggi che scorrono sono decisamente caratteristici, donne e uomini che lavorano sul ciglio della strada, affaccendati nelle loro attività, le mucche, presenti ovunque, gli animali in libertà.
Siamo arrivati a Jaipur in serata e ci siamo subito sistemati nelle nostre stanze, all’hotel Itc Rajputana. La giornata si è conclusa con una cena al ristorante “Peshawari” dell’hotel, una location rustica ma elegante dove abbiamo gustato una deliziosa ( e abbondantissima) selezione di piatti tipici, compreso un GIGANTESCO pane Naan.

ENG: After a quick lunch break at ITC Mughal 5* ( as I already said it’s very important to choose carefully the places where to eat) we get on the bus again till we reached Jaipur. The landscapes you can see are quite typical, women and men working on the roadside, busy in their activities, the cows, that are basically everywhere and animals set free.
We arrived in Jaipur by evening and we immediately settled up in our rooms, at Itc rajputana. The day ended with dinner at the “Peshawari” restaurant of the hotel. rustic but elegant location where we had a delicious (and abundant) dinner with a selection of typical dishes, including a GIANT Naan bread.

 

 

ITA: Giorno 4, Jaipur. Questa cittadina è un concentrato di bellezza e viene chiamata “la città rosa” grazie al colore predominante con cui sono stati costruiti gli edifici di arenaria.
Prima tappa Hawa Mahal, il Palazzo dei Venti: dalle sue 950 finestre le donne della famiglia reale potevano assistere alle cerimonie o guardare la vita di strada senza che nessuno potesse vederle.
Il vento inoltre si incanalava in questo decoratissimo alveare, creando una soave melodia che ha dato il nome al palazzo.
La sua posizione non è delle migliori, la strada è davvero trafficatissima  e i pullman non possono restare parcheggiati per troppo tempo, quindi fare scatti di rilievo è difficile… dovete essere rapidi e concentrati!

ENG: Day 4, Jaipur. This little city is full of beauty and it’s also called ” the pink city” thanks to the prevailing color of his buildings, built in sandstone.
First stop Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds: from his 950 windows the women of the royal family could observe the celebrations or watching the street life without no one seeing them.
Moreover the wind, channeling into this decorated hive, created a beautiful melody that gave name to the palace.
the position is not one of the best, the street is really crowded and cars can’t park there too long, so it’s difficult to shoot good pictures… you need to be fast and focused!

 

 

 

ITA: Sempre in mattinata abbiamo visitato il Forte di Amber, capolavoro di architettura Rajput, situato sulla Cheel Ka Tila (la “collina delle aquile”), una delle tre colline a guardia della città.  Il forte può essere raggiunto a piedi dalla strada salendo per una decina di minuti o partecipando a un’escursione a dorso d’elefante… noi abbiamo scelto la seconda opzione! Prendetevi la mattinata per visitarlo, i dettagli sono tantissimi e meritano di essere osservati con attenzione,  intricati intagli, specchi e lavori in pietra sulle pareti e sui soffitti. Rappresenta la bellezza e la fusione di elementi indù e moghul. Le opportunità per fare scatti qui sono infinite.

ENG: In the morning we also visited the Amber Fort, masterpiece of Rajput architecture, located on the Cheel Ka Tila (the hill of eagles), one of the tree hills to guard the city. You can reach the fort by feet, going up from the street for about 10 minutes, or on the back of the elephant… we choose the second option! I recommend to spend the morning looking around, details are a lot and they deserve to be seen. Embellishments, mirrors and complicated handworks in precious stones on the floor and the walls. This place reflects the beauty and the fusion of Hindu and Moghul elements. Opportunities for pictures are endless here.
