Our travel discovering the finnish capital continues!

ITA: Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di vedere Helsinki durante una abbondantissima nevicata: la città ha completamente cambiato il suo volto e di conseguenza noi abbiamo dovuto cambiare piani.  Non ci siamo ovviamente fatti scoraggiare dalle temperature polari e, imbacuccati di tutto punto, siamo usciti. Ad accoglierci un vento gelido e orizzontale, che si insinua dappertutto, incurante dei nostri multi strati.
La prima tappa è stata Kuuma, un delizioso locale, molto accogliente e frequentato da local: l’arredamento “casalingo” lo rende un posticino davvero speciale e se vi capita di passarci non posso che consigliarvi il toast all’avocado, probabilmente uno dei più buoni che abbia provato.

ENG: We were lucky to see Helsinki under a big snowstorm: the city completely changed her face, therefore we had to change our plans. We didn’t get discouraged by the freezing temperatures and, all wrapped up, we went out. Greeting us a cold and horizontal wind, sneaking everywhere, regardless of our multi – layers of clothes.
Our first stop was Kuuma, a lovely  and cozy bar, where local people go: the “domestic” furnishment makes it quite special and if you happen to go there I recommend you to try their avocado toast, probably one of the best I ate.

ITA: Dopo aver gironzolato per le vie della città sotto una nevicata sempre più abbondante  abbiamo nuovamente sentito l’esigenza di ripararci  in un posto caldo, quindi ne abbiamo approfittato per dare un’occhiata al Vecchio Mercato di Helsinki. Situato in riva al mare è una struttura antica e molto affascinante, il luogo perfetto per gustare un salmone prelibatissimo e alcune tipicità locali, come la renna.

ENG: After walking  through the streets of the city under a bigger and bigger snowstorm we felt the need to take shelter in a warm place, then we took the chance to take a look to the Old Market Hall.
Located by the sea it’s an ancient and very fascinating building, the perfect place where to taste a delicious salmon and some local delicacies, like the deer.

ITA: Tra un giro e l’altro si è fatta presto ora di pranzo. Questa volta la nostra scelta è stata Juuri, elegante e molto chic, un’atmosfera romantica e rilassante, il tutto condito dai fiocchi di neve sulle vetrate del ristorante… insomma, una cornice decisamente nordica!
Tutti i piatti che abbiamo assaggiato sono stati di assoluto livello, gustosi e presentati in maniera impeccabile… consigliatissimo per un evento speciale!

ENG: Walking up and down the city it’s soon lunchtime. Our choice was Juuri, elegant and very chic, with a romantic and relaxing atmosphere, and on the windows a lot of snowflakes…
a quite nordic setting!
All the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious, and served impeccably… totally recommended for a special event!

ITA: Non potevamo perderci una delle esperienze più tipiche, qui in Finlandia: la Sauna! Siamo andati da Loyly, la nuovissima sauna pubblica di concezione ultra moderna, affacciata sul mare e dotata di un ristorante. Il relax è durato poco perchè, come i veri nordici, abbiamo voluto provare la sensazione di uscire, in costume da bagno, a -16° , per poi immergere un piedino nel mare ghiacciato… la tradizione prevede il bagno, ma non ce la siamo sentita 😛

ENG: We couldn’t miss one of the most typical experiences, here in Finland: Sauna! we went to Loyly, the newest and modern concept sauna, facing the sea and with his own restaurant.
Relax was quick because, as real nordic people, we wanted to try the feeling of going out in our swimsuits at -16°, putting then a foot in the frozen sea… tradition is to take a swim, but we didn’t felt to 😛
