ITA: Bristol è una città che negli ultimi anni ha avuto una completa svolta: in poco tempo sono nate un sacco di attività commerciali, molte zone sono state rivalutate, il turismo si è moltiplicato.
Con la sua autentica atmosfera british e gli eleganti quartieri è uno spaccato di Inghilterra un pò diverso dal solito, che credo possa essere interessante conoscere.
Siamo arrivati durante una giornata soleggiata e ventilata, abbiamo pernottato ai Beech House Apartments, una vera e propria oasi di calma immersa nella tranquillità del delizioso quartiere di Clifton, poco distante dal centro. La struttura è un meraviglioso edificio vittoriano, con le ampie vetrate che rendono le camere luminose e un arredamento di classe, il complemento perfetto per una piacevole esperienza.

ENG: Bristol is the kind of city that has completely changed in the last few years: in a few time a lot of commercial activities are born, many districts have been reassessed, tourism has multiplied.
With is  authentic british atmosphere and the elegant neighborhoods is a snapshot of England quite different from usual, that I think could be interesting to discover.
We arrived during a sunny and windy day, we staied at the Beech House Apartments , a true oasis of sophisticated calm in the heart of one of Bristol’s most sought-after locations, not so far from the city center. The building itself is a striking victorian villa, with the big windows making the rooms bright and a sophisticated decor, the perfect counterpoint to a pleasant experience.

ITA:  Abbiamo dedicato la prima giornata alla visita della città: amiamo particolarmente camminare a piedi, è forse il modo migliore per scoprire angoli nascosti e per catturare l’essenza dei posti.
Bristol si gira con molta facilità, ci siamo infatti  spinti fino al quartiere di Stokes Croft, il posto ideale per chi ama la street art. Qui è difficile trovare un muro che non sia arricchito da un murale o da un’opera,  tra tutti i graffiti è possibile trovarne alcuni di Banksy, che qui ha mosso i suoi primi passi. Tantissimi sono i tour dedicati, noi ci siamo cimentati con una lezione di writing e grazie a Wherethewall abbiamo provato a realizzare la nostra “opera”.
Pausa pranzo obbligatoria  da Pinkmans, una panetteria che propone anche piatti caldi: abbiamo provato la loro speciale pizza e un gustoso stufato di verdure.

ENG: We decided to spend the first day visiting the city: we particularly love to walk, that’s probably the best way to discover hidden corners and to capture the essence of a destination.
Is very easy to walk around Bristol, we went till the Stokes Croft district, the place to be if you love street art. Here you’ll struggle not to find a cutting-edge piece of graffiti art decorating the city’s walls.  Also Banksy took to the streets as a youngster and as a result, some of his earliest work is hidden around. There are a lot of dedicated tours, we had fun with a writing lesson, thanks to Wherethewall we tried making our own “masterpiece”.
For lunch you have to stop at Pinkmans, bakery which also provides hot meals: we tried their special pizza and a tasty vegetables stew.

ITA: Nel pomeriggio ci siamo spostati verso il ponte sospeso di Bristol, una delle principali attrazioni della città. Da qui si può godere di una bella vista sulla città e rilassarsi nel contesto dell’ampio parco circostante, sul quale si affacciano abitazioni dal sapore raffinato. La zona è ricca di piccoli negozi e locali di tendenza, elegante e sofisticata.
Se state cercando un posto romantico dove cenare e vi trovate in zona The Ivy Clifton è quello che fa per voi. Sembra di fare un salto indietro nel tempo in questo incredibile ristorante dove ogni dettaglio parla di un passato glorioso e il cibo contribuisce a rendere la serata un’esperienza memorabile.

ENG:  In the afternoon we moved to the Bristol suspension bridge, one of the major attractions of the city. From here you can enjoy a nice view over Bristol and relax in the wide park where you will see a lot of polished and beautiful houses. This area is full of  trendy little shops and pubs, elegant and cool.
If you are looking for a romantic place where to have dinner and you happen to be here The Ivy Clifton is the place for you. It’s like a step back in time in this amazing restaurant where every details speaks about a glorious past, and also the food contributes to make the evening even more special and memorable.

ITA: Bristol, giorno due. Ci siamo ritagliati del tempo per andare a visitare una realtà molto particolare e divertente, ovvero Clifton Arcade. Si tratta di una sorta di centro commerciale all’aperto, una bellissima corte interna dove si affacciano innumerevoli negozietti che vendono di tutto, dagli abiti vintage ai gioielli.
Un’altra piccola chicca, che fa assolutamente parte della cultura inglese, è Milliner’s Guild, la tradizione che riguarda i cappellini da donna… sono letteralmente impazzita nel vedere da vicino un vero atelier e parlare con la proprietaria, che ci ha mostrato alcuni tra i suoi pezzi più preziosi. Sapete che alcuni di questi sono andati al matrimonio reale?

ENG: Bristol, day two. We saved some time to go and visit a very specific and funny reality, which is Clifton Arcade. This is some sort of open air shopping center, a gorgeous   inside court where you will find countless little shops selling almost everywhere, from vintage clothes to jewelry.
Another typical thing, that clearly belongs to the english culture is Milliner’s Guild , the tradition of  hats for woman… I went crazy  when I had the chance to visit a real atelier and also to talk with the owner,  she showed us some of her most precious pieces. Did you know that some of them went to the royal wedding?

ITA: Insomma, Bristol è stata una piacevole scoperta, una città che fonde aspetti e culture molto diverse, a tratti quasi stridenti, una caratteristica che spiazza e che affascina, al tempo stesso. La zona del porto è l’espressione massima di questo concetto: immaginate un’area di concezione moderna, con spazi pubblici, passeggiate e locali costruiti all’interno di colorati container, ecco, abbiamo cenato proprio qui l’ultima sera, per la precisione da Pigsty. Credo che non dimenticherò facilmente le loro squisite cipolle caramellate!

ENG:  So, Bristol was a pleasant discovery, this city really mixes together different cultures, somehow striking, this feature could displace and fascinate at the same time. The harbour district is the maximum expression of this way of living: imagine a modern area with public spaces, promenades and pubs built from colorful containers… that’s where we had dinner for our last night, to be more precise at Pigsty. I won’t forget their delicious caramel onion so easy!
